MYKILIM released its new collection of handbags in collaboration with Atlanta based-artist Melissa Mitchell on August 26th. The collection has left it to Mitchell to create her dream bag. With vibrant and unforgettable colors, it is a direct representation of Melissa Mitchell.

MYKILIM is a women’s accessories brand that is designed in Paris and handmade in Morocco. Each bag is inspired by Moroccan ancestral Berber culture and value, using upcycled Moroccan kilim, a hand-woven carpet that tells a unique story based on its color, shape, and pattern. MYKILIM designs one-of-a-kind sustainable bags while creating a social impact with cultural Kilim and ethical practices. 

Melissa Mitchell is the Chief Artistic Creator of Abeille Creations which she founded in 2016. She has been featured in Forbes, Rolling Out, Madam Noire, Essence, Sheen Magazine, to name a few. She has worked with brands such as Pepsi, Ford, and Spanx. In 2019 she was a part of Ford’s Live Loud and Proud Campaign where she spoke about what it means to live loud and proud.  Some of her work can be seen on her instagram page @abeillecreations and on her website Melissa Mitchell. 

In 24 hours the bags were sold out on MYKILIM’s website. Pre-orders are now being processed. The production will take between 4 to 6 weeks due to everything being handmade in Atlanta and Morocco.

From each sale 10% of the proceeds are being donated to NAACP and Feeding America. So far they have donated almost $500. 

This collaboration was powered by Mustapha Benosman, the founder of MB Influence (www.mbinfluence.com) Instagram MBInfluence, a digital and marketing agency based in New York City. 

Reality star Lauren Speed has shown her love for the collection.  She had a ‘Real Housewives’ Fantasy With Glam Shoot featuring content from all Black creators where celebrity stylist, Candace Hokett, created one-of-a-kind looks. In this she included the Alouane Handbag from the MYKILIM x Melissa Mitchell collaboration.
