Funnies For Families Launches Crowdfunding Campaign For Video Series

Charitable Comedy Organization Going Digital To Reach More Families Nationwide

Toronto – February 28, 2020 – This week, Funnies for Families – a Toronto non-profit that performs comedy shows for seriously ill children and their families at hospitals, care centres, shelters and hospices – launched a crowdfunding campaign to create a video series. Their goal is to expand their reach to help even more families going through their toughest times across Canada. The series will be unscripted family-friendly comedy featuring comedians and puppets.

Of the goal of the campaign, Funnies for Families Co-Founder Kristie Gunter said, “We perform about 15 shows every month, but have reached our ceiling on the number of shows we’re currently able to do in-person. We’re excited to hit our goal and get started creating a series that can reach countless more families across Canada. We are dedicated to bringing light into their dark times.”

The crowdfunding campaign will help the organization cover pre-production costs for the series, including designing sets and costumes, building puppets, writing theme music, and more. Once that phase is done, they’ll be ready to start shooting their series and launching their channel on YouTube and the Funnies for Families website.
