Pedal Kayaks Outcompete Other Types of Kayaks

March 14 03:41 2019

When the weather heats up, the tendency to race to nature for some extra comfort is strong. If you’re looking for something fun to do in the sun, don’t be shy about trying out a new outdoor sport. You might like something you’ve never tried before, so head on over to the local lake, park, or reservoir to see what types of crafts are speeding along the open waters. You’ll be surprised by what people are riding around on these days.

Competing in Outdoor Sports

When I was a boy, I wanted to race sailboats, but I wasn’t near the ocean, so I had to settle for playing around in the lake. Now as an adult, you couldn’t pull me from the lake with a towing rope and four-wheel drive. I’m committed to entertaining myself, and my family by engaging in fun, safe outdoor sports. But lately I’ve been drawn towards competitive racing once again.

I’m not talking about racing sailboats in the ocean either. You may want to look at this website to see what I mean. There are plenty of chances to get involved in competitive kayak racing, and other competitive sports. You’d be surprised how a little bit of competition can bring together the entire family.

It’s not about winning the race, and it’s not about the glory of taking home a trophy either. (Although bragging about a big trophy or putting a plaque on the mantle would be nice.) Bringing the family to do competitive outdoor sports is about playing out in nature, and we get good exercise in the process. The children learn about the values of hard work, and teamwork, and the wife gets to feel like she’s in charge when she bosses our group around. That’s nature at its finest!

Finding the right vessel to sport around on the water is a matter of preference and talking to other racers helps get an idea of what floats through the finish line. However, I’ve heard companies like Perception Kayaks sell worthy vessels. You’ll want to be sure to read all about the kayak you’re thinking of purchasing before you commit to buying it.

Get Up Before the Sun’s Up!

This last week I heard from a little bird about a Worldwide ‘kayaks only’ bass tournament coming to Tennessee, so be sure to keep your ear to the ground about that competition. You’ll need to get out on the water to practice before the tournament. There’s going to be plenty of people coming out to show off their kayaks.

If you think you’ll make your mother proud by plunking your kayak in the water, or if you just want to do it for the thrill of being out in nature, make sure you register for the tournament. It’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m sure out family will be there. See you out on the water, and make sure you get up before the crack of dawn!
